We deplore American culture

American culture is rather vast and includes a lot of the other cultures of the world. I am reading a book about
the history of jeans (called dungarees in Brooklyn, NYC,when I was a young teen in the 1950s), written by an
Englishman, I think. It is wonderful that denim jeans, which were popular when I was a young teen (and same is true for my husband, also from Brooklyn) and still
"regular wear" for us. He is a science professor and can wear them to work!

I am ambivalent about some parts of "American culture" -
meaning, I like some movies and not others. I am an
artist, good work but not famous and have my feminist
opinions of the art world (see Guerrilla Girls, google).

I like jazz, rock and roll but not only "American".
I like world music. I read the Guardian.co.uk every day online (not all of it). So, I end with my first sentence.
Adding: we are an "empire"/war culture for several decades, for which I am sad and protest. (See
Chalmers Johnson's trilogy "Blowback", "Sorrows of
Empire" and "Nemesis". )

I haven't been to England or the Continent in decades, but I really could live in London, Paris and possibly,
Firenze.
